Ultra high vacuum (UHV) is the vacuum characterised by pressures lower than about 10−7 pascal. Such high vacuum is needed for a number of gas analyses, we use it in many projects. The ultra high vacuum system is a must for a "clean" experiments with gases and volatile compounds. However it is essential in many experiments with metals, polymers, ceramic, and other materials. Just an example - we may deposite in UHV a mono-molecular layer of platinym on quarz fibers to create a unique catalyzer.
